Tennessee Sports Radio going off the air

Tennessee Sports Radio will go off the air on August 29 after four years on 1180 AM. Oskie Media, LLC announced in a release on Monday they have decided to bring two new formats to Knoxville radio, one of which will broadcast on 1180 AM.
Co-owner of Oskie Media and general manager of TSR, Jason Bailey says he is ready to move forward.
"We wanted to engage our audience," Bailey said. "We set Tennessee Sports Radio up in a way that was unlike any other radio station in Knoxville. We were ahead of our time, and our listeners and advertisers loved it and responded to it. We had a great four-year run and we raised the bar for sports radio in East Tennessee. Everyone involved with Tennessee Sports Radio should be proud of what they accomplished."
The first of the two new stations is expected to launch on Monday, September 1 at 7 a.m. No date was released for the launch of the second station, which will be on 1120 AM.
Former Tennessee wide receiver Jayson Swain hosts "The Swain Event" on Tennessee Sports Radio.
"We kinda knew that it was going to happen so we've been reaching out and looking for some other things to do so we can land on our feet," explained Swain.
Swain says the new stations will bring listeners oldies and comedy.
"They are the owners, they're the bosses and they have that right. I think they're going to provide a service in this market that people will like, you know oldies and then comedy," said Swain. "Hopefully, the bosses are able to land on their feet and hopefully everyone here at Tennessee Sports Radio will do the same."
Oskie Media, LLC says they have analyzed the Knoxville radio market for the past seven months to ascertain what listeners want and to identify what the market currently lacks.
