French digital terrestrial radio services, launched
in Paris, Marseille and Nice on 20 June, have so far attracted 62
stations, nine of which are transmitting in more than one city,
according to broadcast regulator CSA. Some of the stations are not
available in FM, or can not be received in FM in the markets where they
now broadcast in digital. Nearly all of the stations are using the DAB+
standard. The CSA said more stations were set to start transmitting in
digital terrestrial in the upcoming weeks. The regulator plans to
publish a report in the autumn that will propose the future direction of
digital radio.
