Czech Radiokomunikace is expanding the number of transmitters in the pilot project of digital radio broadcasting. From 31 July, it will add 16 transmitters in Prague and environs. In total, the Prague DAB testing multiplex covering most of Prague will broadcast 16 channels. The transmitter in Prague Strahov broadcasts in DAB+ standard in channel 10D in the band III, which is optimal for digital radio broadcasting. At the time of launch of the pilot on 25 March, the multiplex included four channels. To the currently broadcast radio channels Cesky rozhlas Vltava, Cesky rozhlas Wave, Evropa 2 and RockZone, the following ones will be added: Cesky rozhlas Radiozurnal, Dvojka, Plus, Junior, D-Dur, Jazz; Frekvence 1, BBC and Pigy by the media group Lagardere, Implus, Impuls AM and Dechovka by the company Londa. Digital radio broadcasting shall also include several radio channels unavailable in the FM band due to insufficient free frequencies. Receiving the signal is possible on devices supporting DAB+ standard. The transmitter covers over 800,000 inhabitants of Prague.
